3-axis rough cutting of 65"Dia spiral bevel gear.

Finished hypoid gear set for paper pulper. Ring gear is 38"OD was cut on 3-axis CNC HAAS. 8" OD pinion was cut on 5-axis MAZAK.

Example of high surface finish, perfectly machined tooth root fillet, and root land without the traditional unwanted step from Gleason/Klingelnberg cutter tips. Because of optimized root geometry the clearance can be reduced for increase of active profile area for extended gear life.

Spiral bevel gear set for 1000HP cone crusher produces entirely on a universal CNC milling machine. Ring gear is 66"OD, case hardened to HRC 58, finish cut to AGMA Q12 after case hardening. Pinion is 24"OD, case hardened to HRC 62 after finished cut. Gear and pinion are cut on 3-axis milling machine. Indexing table was used for the pinion.

The upper picture shows a ring gear that was cut on Gleason generator. The lower picture shows the same gear that was cut on 3-axis universal CNC milling machine. Hand-made chamfers on the upper picture are only on the outer diameter. Machined fillets on the outer diameter and smaller fillets on the topland of the teeth are on the lower picture.

This $500,000.00US machine is capable of cutting DIN5 bevel gears up to 100"OD.
CNC machine tool manufacturers use our software for demonstration of gear tooth cutting capabilities. In result, more universal CNC milling machines are sold for gear manufacturing.
